Sweet Home Alabama

War Eagle!

Little did I know before coming to beautiful Auburn University, but that is used as a greeting, a goodbye, and a cheer/chant for their Tigers.

Alabama was so gorgeous, but hot, and I was thankful to get a driving tour at first around Auburn to get a feel for the University without having to hike all over. All the fraternity houses were HUGE, the university buildings and campus were GORGEOUS, and the sorority residence halls have recently been redone and were super nice inside.

I got to experience all that Auburn had to offer in the week I was there, hitting all the hotspots like Toomer's Drug for lemonade and lunch (on Oprah's top 100 things to do before you die), Mamma Goldberg's, took a picture in front of Samford Hall, tried corn nuggets at Niffers, and saw all the different campus clubs/organizations at O-Days/welcome days (I got some free candy from some groups, but sorry, I don't think I will be around to participate much in the Lacrosse club :) ).

I also got to represent ISU a little bit when I wore my ISU football t shirt to the rec center. No sign of my buddy, Gene Chizik, but I got some funny looks from people while I was wearing it on campus along with questions like, "Is football big at ISU?"

Here are some pictures from my visit. It was SO beautiful there, and campus reminded me of a cross between UNI and ISU. Being there the week before their first game was exciting, and they were getting prepared setting up tailgating tents, making banners and signs, and more while I was visiting!

In front of Samford Hall.. Typical solo tourist picture!

Loved the banners they were making!

HUGE fraternities on the new row! It was funny to see the guys doing their "formal recruitment" the week I was there.

The stadium is literally in the center of campus. National Champs!

It was a very good guide/point of direction for me on campus!

This part of campus is what reminded me of UNI!

The Quad residence hall area.

Rumor has it that a professor used to give an automatic A in his class if you came the first day with the quote from this building memorized!

The orange brick line through the center was where the 50 yd line was on the original field.

Sad, poisoned Toomer's trees :(

Where I had the world famous lemonade!

The Kappa residence hall and chapter room! They share this hall with DG and Tri Delta

Now I'm back up north in my homeland/"birth"land of Wisconsin. It's great to be back in the Midwest, but I was welcomed by just as much heat & humidity as there was in the south. More updates later!

Love you all! (The southern accent didn't stick ;) )
xoxo
